The classroom success of University of the Pacific’s student-athletes continued during the 2021-22 academic year with 46 Tigers honored by the West Coast Conference with All-Conference academic status.

Twelve Tigers were selected first team WCC All-Academic and 34 were honorable mentions.

Pacific student-athletes also had an overall average grade-point average of 3.21 for the academic year—3.17 in fall semester and 3.26 in the spring.

Also, 97 Pacific student-athletes were named to the WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll for the 2021-22 academic year. The honorees came from the 12 Pacific sports in which the WCC conducts championships and recognizes student-athletes that have successfully balanced athletic success with academic excellence.

“Our commitment remains dedicated to fostering the development of our student-athletes academically, athletically and personally,” said Janet Lucas, Pacific’s Director of Athletics. “The focus and commitment needed to balance the rigor of academics and college athletics is challenging but also rewarding.  This makes us particularly proud of those student-athletes who consistently demonstrate excellence in the classroom.”

In the all-conference recognition, women’s soccer had 11 athletes honored, the most of any Pacific team. Ryanne Molenaar ’23, Camryn Scully ’22 and Jenea Packard ’22 were first-team honorees.

"We are thrilled at the academic achievements of our women's soccer players,” said Co-Head Women’s Soccer Coaches Danesha Adams and J.J. Wozniak. “For 11 of them to be named to the WCC All-Academic team and three honored with first-team selection speaks to the commitment and dedication our entire team places on academics and how important it is for them to do well in the classroom.”

Men’s golf also had an impressive showing with eight student-athletes honored, including two first-team selections, Petr Janik ’23 and Haakon Mathiesen ’24. Women’s basketball and softball each had five honorees and volleyball and men’s soccer had four each.

“I think it’s important to focus on academics because it builds discipline that will carry over into your sport,” said Cooper Riley ’22, a men’s soccer player who is one of the first-team honorees.
